But in peri-menopause and beyond these aims may feel they are depleting us. And if we can allow ourselves an alternative, they begin to seem less like a worthwhile use of our time. Perimenopause and Menopause is a life phase that creates a shift in all areas of our self, when we can choose instead to come into a less judgemental, more compassionate, and even a stronger relationship with ourselves and those around us
During our teenage years we are taught to speak euphemistically of our monthly bleeding. Later, the very real hormonally driven variations of mood we experience from puberty onwards are commonly mocked. Later still, women report encountering a sense of becoming invisible as their bodies let go of the over-valued shape, texture and energy of the fertile years.
In this live, online workshop, we would like to help you come to terms with the natural changes of your body, heart and mind, and there you may find empowerment, ease, strength, relief and a true sense of who you are and what it is you truly want in YOUR life.
Through a variety of physical and meditational practices, Niamh will lead you to a kinder, stronger, more comfortable and self-caring relationship with your changing body as you enter and inhabit the latter half of your life. Not only that, she will help you re-find the pleasure in being you that you may have been feeling was lost.
The peri/menopausal phase can bring with it various different physical and emotional changes in the body. Given the pervasive nature of diet culture driving us to falsely believe that the size and shape of our physical body reflects our health and value, it is not surprising how this can compound the many potential struggles in peri/menopause. It may feel like the only way to feel better is by following another diet, start restrictive eating regimes or committing to more arduous exercise, when often these behaviours are not sustainable nor benefitting our physical and/or emotional wellbeing.
